Neck Pain

Neck pain is the sensation of discomfort in the neck area. Neck pain can result from disorders of any of the structures in the neck, including the cervical vertebrae and intervertebral discs, nerves, muscles, blood vessels, esophagus, larynx, trachea, lymphatic organs, thyroid gland, or parathyroid glands. Neck pain arises from numerous different conditions and is sometimes referred to as cervical pain.

    Spread to the upper back, shoulders, or arms.
    Be worse with movement.
    Make your neck stiff or tender.
    Cause headaches. These are common and may last for months.

    Carrying a heavy backpack or purse on one shoulder
    Cervical dystonia (spasmodic torticollis)
    Cradling your phone between your shoulder and neck
    Emotional stress
    Meralgia paresthetica
    Herniated disk
    Meningitis
    Ankylosing spondylitis
    Osteoarthritis
    Poor posture
    Rheumatoid arthritis
    Sleeping on your abdomen or with too many or too few pillows
    Spinal stenosis
    Tension headache
    TMJ disorders
    Trauma from accidents or falls
